MANAGERS: Mr. O Donovan & MS.Barry

CAPTAIN:

MUNSTER MINOR CUP

04-02-14 – Quarter Final: Rochestown 1 St. Brendans 3

Rochestown’s quest to retain their Munster trophy ended on a cold and blustery day in Douglas. Playing with a strong wind in the first half, Rochestown pressed for an early advantage. Continued pressure eventually payed off close to half time when a Gordon Walker free kick found its way to the back post and Stephen Fox slotted home. It was a deserved lead from a well worked free kick.

The second half saw conditions deteriorate even further with the wind becoming gale force. Rochestown found themselves on the back foot for prolonged periods and St. Brendans continued pressure paid off as they found the net twice in the space of five minutes. A third goal soon after dented Roco’s hopes. To their credit, Roco pressed and pressed, hitting the bar and the post in the final 5 minutes. The game ended 3-1. Good performances on the day came from Stephen Fox, Gordon Walker and Donagh Gribbon.

U15 CORK CUP

11-03-14 – Round 1: Colaiste Muire 3 Rochestown 5

An 8 goal thriller in Cobh saw Rochestown come out on top in this Cork Cup clash. The game began at a frantic pace and an early Cobh attack saw them take the lead. Rochestown responded immediately when a Dylan Ward run and cross was put into his own net by a Cobh defender. After that the flood gates opened for Roco!

Donagh Gribbon was causing massive problems down the right with every cross coming into the box looking like it would be finished. Roco scored 4 quick goals and found themselves 5-1 by the 25th minute. Nathan Montgomery scored two from corners, the first an excellent header that found the top corner. Stephen Fox and Dylan Ward also got in on the act finishing off flowing moves. The second half saw Cobh improve drastically but it was too little too late and Roco held on for an excellent win. Strong performances on the day came from Nathan Montgomery, Donagh Gribbon and Dylan Ward.

 24-03-14 – Round 2: Rochestown 3 Ballincollig 2

The last 16 of the Cork Cup saw a strong performance from Roco. A number of injuries saw a different line up for Roco from the beginning. Jack O’ Mahony started left back, Dylan Ward moved into cente midfield and Matthew McAuliffe began as a lone striker. Roco hit the ground running and found themselves ahead early on. A strong run and cross from Donagh Gribbon found its way to the back post where Liam Grainger was waiting to slot the ball home. Continued pressure saw Roco double their lead, Gribbon finishing a great move with the outside of his right foot. Just before half time, Fox added a third with a great run and finish from midfield. Ballincollig scored two late goals but Roco held on to earn a spot in the quarter final.
